BIllie Jean*

This is a Billie jean mind map drawing , when i first saw this, i thought it was really cool the way each individual drawing blends together to create one image. I like the way it is in biro pen and looks really neat and clear, it reminds me of a sketch someone would draw in the back of their sketch book, this design looks like it could appear on nickelodeon or another kids show like that it looks familiar, like something i may have seen before not sure where. This work has inspired me by showing me a quick sketch could be turned into a piece of art.

Billie jean is a fairly new artist , a modern artist, i am not sure of his age but by his art is really modern so i am guessing he is young, this is a poster he created for a nike campaign and was aimed at youth to by this particular brand/style of trainer;Out of all of his pieces i have chosen to analyse this piece because i really liked the way it looked and the busyness of it all, i feel this is a good design if you have a lot of designs and don't know what to do do you can just combine them to create a collage.

I have looked at similar artists such as Michael Craig, Paul Becker and Debbie Hill they all had a common style which was childlike drawing but out of all of them i chose this one because i felt this one was the best. This pieces theme is basketball and play which i think he really captured the essence of the trainer with it. I feel as if the artist was trying to represent youth from the big word "vandal" I feel as if it is showing the essence of youth these days.

It looks like the image has been created pen and hand but i feel that it may have been tided  up on a computer animated system like photoshop to tidy up some biro pen marks or maybe fine liner marks, he only uses the colour blue but he uses it in a way that it looks lighter and darker in specific areas, it is crucial he only uses line and tone in small areas.

A class task was to create a Billie jean inspired picture using pencil in 15 mins, i had an attempt to create a piece using my summer theme song and things i could see around me.

This is it if i had more time i would have done smaller things in more detail and a lot neater but my prime focus was to fill the spaces on the page, if i had another chance i would do these things maybe later on in my project i will attempt this.
