This CD package is for Nokia a mobile company. When i first saw this package it really caught my eye because of the way the it is folded into the box. It really makes it look futuristic , such as technology usually is.
An easy access to the it was one of the outcomes.
The designer made folds in which the it would hold and be secure as if it was a in CD holder, the way it is presented is very technical . This will catch peoples attention, also making it look attractive.
The material used for this packaging was card, the technique used was Oragami.
The colours used in this packaging are simple. A plain white background with a stripe containing a gradient witht the company logo within it. The logo type is a wordmark, its a plain black with the gradient of white and black in te background. It makes the logo stand out. Its simple which is effective. Together with the wordmark logo and the stripe, it makes the whole design simple and elegant.
Further more, the packaging can be adapted with other products like gameing, this again tells us the they are linked witht the future, but also, its make the whole design look cool and exciting.

I tried to look i could not for the desighner of this CD packaging but i could not find them any where i will still try and look out for them . The piece of work is an CD cover for an album called 'VH1 50 Greatest hip hop artists', that was released in around 2008. I chose to analyse this piece because I liked the style that has been used and the effect using the brown cardboard , it fits in well with the theme of the year genre because people used to use cardbourd boxes to breakdance on, for competitions or just to raise some money.
I guessed from looking at the album package that it was a hip hop because of the closed box made into an old stereo which is an iconic image from this time the late 80's. I knew that VH1 is an american music channel based in New York . I researched thuther into this album cover to find out that the theme of this piece is American Urban culture, i thought that the artist did well to represent the style of hip hop music through the images, stickers and style or packaging.
Printed onto the cardboard box, the artist used a stencil effect only black to give the packaging a street style effect to give it more of the esscence of the theme, i think it is really simple yet effective because, hip hop genre throughout the ages has derived from a poor background , where anything and everything you could use to make something else they would so, hip hop was very simple but effective and that is the way this packaging has come accross to me.
I wanted to investigate this album package because it's whole theme came out of the late 80's early 90' just as my chosen artists this was there time were they made it big and alos there genre of music was hip hop so i saw alot of comparisons and areas which i could work on with my package.
These are some of my quick album cover experiments i done to give me some ideas , and also a starting point for me to see were i would want to go with my ideas and what angles i may want to take, or even if i cold take a thew concepts of these and use them in my final package.
When i first saw this video on youtube how to create this package i thought it looked nice, after i made it my first impression was that it looks like an album package for perhaps a classical music artist or someone who does opera, it did not represent my artists which were hip hop artist at all, i felt this way because the package looked fresh and neat ;that is my perception of classical music.
I felt that maybe if i put imagery and text which match my artist such as my abstract logo and images of the artist and styled it the way that i wanted that it may look good but still it was not the best if felt that i could do.
This was the first Album package i done i really like this almbum cover because i felt it was simple, and i feel that when it is simple it is really good, also it being made out of paper would mean that the resourses would be very easy to get hold of so i could keep on trying to practice this package to perfect it, the only problem i saw was that i could not see the bigger picture i never saw past this oragami envelope anything else to encorperate with my artists .
To create this package all i used was an
A4 peice of paper and then folded it in all the ways that the instructions said just like oragami, i think this package could be very effectve for another genre of music but it was not for me in this time.
This was the second
